Stuttgart celebrates last-minute point – record victory for Freiburg

Important point for VfB Stuttgart on Saturday in the Bundesliga. Almost with the final whistle, a 1:1 was achieved in Berlin. SC Freiburg, on the other hand, was able to celebrate three points in the end.

VfB Stuttgart once again showed a lot of morale in the relegation battle: The Swabians drew 1-1 (0-1) at Union Berlin after Borussia Mönchengladbach had been defeated a week ago.

Sasa Kalajdzic (90th) secured the important point at the Alte Försterei with his goal after he had hit the post of the Union goal five minutes earlier. With 23 points, VfB is still stuck in the bottom of the table.

Taiwo Awoniyi scored a hand penalty (41st) for the Berliners, who initially missed their targeted 40-point mark. The cup semi-finalists are still in the middle of the table with 38 points.

Grifo and Schlotterbeck give Streich a record victory

Led by the marksmen Vincenzo Grifo and Nico Schlotterbeck, SC Freiburg gave its coach Christian Streich a very special gift to extend his contract. The people of Breisgau deservedly won 3-2 (2-0) against VfL Wolfsburg and continue to dream of the premier class after their coach’s record win.

With a fantastic free kick and a spectacular volley, Grifo (7’/44′) gave the surprise team a clear lead. Max Kruse (52nd) and Maximilian Arnold (84th) equalized for Wolfsburg, but then Schlotterbeck’s violent shot (87th) decided the game. With his 104th Bundesliga victory with the Sport-Club, Streich has now caught up with Volker Finke in the list of Freiburg record coaches.
