Next year 2023, San Luis Potosí would be hosting one of the most important sports competitions in the region in the country, where the people of Potosí can boost their skills in disciplines such as basketball and baseball, in addition to soccer, said the Governor of the State Ricardo Gallardo Cardona when stating that he will shortly present a Law Initiative to the Legislative Power to establish the Potosí Cup and expand its activities.
He explained that on the subject of sports, the new state government will provide all athletes in the state with opportunities to practice and professionalize other branches, for which the proposal is about to be presented to local deputies, and shield the name of the Potosí Cup so that no other governor tries to change it and that also guarantees the inclusion of other tournaments: “there are many potosinos who enjoy other sports, in San Luis they will also be supported to participate with other teams at the national level in quality competitions” .
The Chief Executive stressed that a sign of his administration’s interest in transforming and enriching the sport is the increase in the prize pool to one million pesos for the teams that will participate from April 11 to 17 in the new edition of the renewed Potosí Cup, which has great expectations by summoning semi-professional teams from a large part of the Mexican Republic. Likewise, the commitment to rehabilitate the “Miguel Barragán” sports units and the “20 de Noviembre” baseball stadium in all their splendor, he stressed.
He added that part of that public policy in favor of fostering positive habits in the population of Potosí results in the project to build a Sports City in conjunction with the board of directors of the San Luis Athletic Club, which would be located in the municipality of Soledad de Graciano Sánchez. and that it would have an investment of 150 million pesos by the local firm.
Gallardo Cardona affirmed that the Government of Potosí will contribute to its construction with the donation of a 10-hectare property to build up to seven first-line fields, a state-of-the-art equipped gym; changing rooms and service facilities in general according to athletes of excellence, which will strengthen first division football in the Entity.
