[Reuters]-World Taekwondo, the international governing body, announced on the 28th that it will strip Russia’s President Vladimir Putin’s 9th black belt after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
World Taekwondo had awarded President Putin the same black belt in November 2013.
World Taekwondo, whose motto is “peace is more valuable than victory,” accused the Russian army of invading Ukraine, saying that “a brutal attack on innocent people” violates Taekwondo’s values of respect and patience.
The International Judo Federation also suspended the qualifications of President Putin’s honorary chairman and ambassador on the 27th.
