Taking a junior high school exam to become a professional … Shotaro Mamiya 28-year-old reveals that “I can’t be a professional baseball player” “Memory of middle 2” –Professional baseball –Number Web
The documentary drama “Miracle Back Home” depicting the half-life of former Hanshin Tigers Shintaro Yokota will be broadcast on ABC TV Asahi (from 13:55 on March 13). The lead role is Shotaro Mamiya (28 years old), a “cameleon actor” who plays a wide range of characters from taiga dramas, morning dramas, and live-action movies based on popular manga.

Mamiya was actually a baseball boy. He talked about his career as a professional baseball player, the day he learned about the limits of his dreams, and his current career as an actor (2 times, 1st / 2nd part).

-I heard that Mr. Mamiya is a Hanshin fan, so I brought the past Tigers special issue!

MamiyaWow, thank you! This cover is also dangerous (laughs). When I was reading this in the first place, I never thought that I would be the one to be interviewed.

I took an entrance exam at an affiliated school to become a professional

――I heard that you were a baseball boy aiming to become a professional player when you were a student.

MamiyaI agree. Even when I was taking the junior high school exam, I chose the affiliated school because I thought that it might be possible to go to (professional) through the university rather than the probability of going to a professional at Koshien. “My dream for the future is a professional baseball player,” he said many times.

――It’s amazing to think so much when you’re in elementary school and decide your own course … Wasn’t the practice hard?

MamiyaWhen I first joined the club, there were about 30 people in sync, but it was so strict that it was cut in half at once (laughs). However, in my case, I had been using it for games since I was in the first grade, so it was going well. There were only three people in the same grade (who were in the match from the beginning).

Looking at rivals, “If you have a stronger passion for baseball …”

――So you were a candidate for a future ace.

MamiyaNo no (laughs)! At that time, I was a little unscrupulous, so I didn’t do much self-discipline. Even though I enjoy club activities, I’m also a junior high school student, so after the practice, I hang out at the school cafeteria and go out to play.

–Are there any players like your rivals at that time?

MamiyaThere was a great player in my classmate who was the same pitcher. He has a serious personality and is like “training as soon as he gets up”. Of course, I’m not late for school, I’ve always finished my homework, and I’m not called for supplementary lessons because of my good grades. He was a different type from himself. But you’re not as conscious as those players. As I watched him all the time, I began to think that if I had a strong passion for baseball, I would have lived a life more like him.

――You shouldn’t have time to talk about waste in the school cafeteria.
