MARBELLA (MALAGA), 5 (EUROPA PRESS)
The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, has participated in the tribute that has been offered to Manolo Santana this Saturday in Marbella (Málaga), where he has wished that the tennis player’s memory serve as “an incentive for other great Andalusian Spaniards to be also great in international sport».
This was highlighted during the act by the President of the Board, who recalled that although Santana was from Madrid, “he fell in love with Andalusia, with Marbella”, where he spent almost 40 years.
“For Andalusia it is a source of great satisfaction, great pride, to have been able to count on one of the greats of tennis, who has opened the door to new generations who see this beautiful sport as one of their great passions”, Moreno highlighted.
Therefore, “Andalusia is very proud of Manolo Santana, very proud of everything he has done, of everything he has meant and of all the great legacy he has left”, he concluded.
Manolo Santana passed away in Marbella on December 11 at the age of 83. The former Spanish tennis player was the winner of four ‘Grand Slam’ titles and a pioneer and legend of Spanish tennis.
