Tennis player Andy Murray has appointed the Czech Ivan Lendl as his coach this Friday to prepare for the season on grass, joining their paths for the third time in the Scotsman’s career, after he broke up with coach Jamie Delgado, current coach of Denis Shapovalov, in December.

Andy Murray won all three of his ‘Grand Slam’ titles with Lendl as his coach and with whom he began working at the start of the 2012 season. A decision that comes after the Scot turned to his old friend Dani Vallverdu to prepare for the recent tournaments in Rotterdam, Doha and Dubai.

It is not yet known if Lendl will join him for any upcoming tournaments, but the 34-year-old will stay in the United States after this month’s tournaments in Indian Wells and Miami to complete an extended training block.

Murray has already announced that he will not play the clay court tournaments to focus solely on preparing for the grass court season. Since last summer, the Scot has been in good shape, which has allowed him to train and play continuously.

In addition, it returned to the top 100, currently ranking at number 84. Thus, Murray hopes that Lendl can get the best of him once again and help him return to his best game, while taking care of the physical aspect, one of the biggest concerns of previous professional relationships between the two.

Murray won his first Grand Slam with Lendl at the 2012 US Open, before winning Wimbledon the following year, 77 years after the last win by a British player. In 2014, Murray and Lendl parted ways with him, but met again two years later, shortly before the Scot claimed his second Wimbledon title.
