The Serbian tennis pro Novak Djokovic and his coach Marian Vajda separate. The 20-time Grand Slam winner Djokovic explained on his website that the agreement to end the partnership had already been reached at the ATP finals in Turin in November. Overall, Djokovic, 34, and the 56-year-old Slovak coach worked together for fifteen years. On Monday Djokovic lost his position as number one in the world rankings to Russian Daniil Medvedev after 361 weeks. “Marian was by my side in the most important and memorable moments of my career. Together we have achieved incredible things and I am very grateful to him for his friendship and commitment over the past 15 years,” Djokovic said in recognition of his coach. He will continue to be mentored by former world-class player Goran Ivanisevic, who has been part of his team since 2019. At the beginning of the year, Djokovic had to leave Australia before the Australian Open in Melbourne because of his corona vaccination refusal.
