The public entity will broadcast the matches of Spain
The Qatar 2022 World Cup already has an audiovisual group assigned for its broadcast. The most important soccer competition returns to TVE, although it will not do it 100%. The public entity had not offered a World Cup match since 1998. That year, Zidane’s France lifted the trophy and Spain went home in the group stage.
The coverage that TVE will carry out will be limited. In open, the matches of Spain the opening match, the final, the semifinals, two quarter-final matches, four eighth matches and one from each group. The rest will be paid and will be offered by Mediapro through the platforms that negotiate these rights. It is taken for granted that Movistar will be one of them and others such as Orange could be added.
However, after the end of each day, TVE will broadcast a summary of the highlights and a special program where the last minute of the Spanish team will be reported. The most controversial World Cup in history due to the lack of rights in Qatar will be held from November 21 to December 18.
Until then, the Spanish team -already qualified- will play two friendly matches on Saturday the 26th against Albania at 7:45 p.m. at the RCDE Stadium in Barcelona, and on Monday the 29th against Iceland at 8:45 p.m. at the Riazor stadium, in A Coruna. When the World Cup approaches, Luis Enrique’s men will also play several preparation matches.
