Since last night, we know 27 of the 32 qualified for the next 2022 World Cup in Qatar. So many nations who dream of succeeding the winning French team in Russia four years ago. But before being able to lift the Grail, we will have to go through the draw box which will be organized next Friday in Doha. From 6 p.m. French time, Didier Deschamps and his men will know their future opponents.
As a reminder, the 32 nations present will be divided into four pots and each pot will be composed according to the FIFA ranking, except for Qatar which is automatically seeded as the organizing country. Excellent news for the Blues who are guaranteed to be in hat 1. They will thus avoid Belgium, Brazil, Argentina, England, Spain and Portugal. Practical when you know that in the eight teams of pot 2, the only scarecrows will be the Netherlands and Germany.
France rather spared
Not yet officially qualified, the United States and Mexico should not miss their plane for Qatar since they would have to bow very heavily against Costa Rica and El Salvador to see their dream shattered. Barring a cataclysm, they will therefore be in pot 2. Qualified in extremis against Egypt, the Senegalese African champions will be the main danger in pot 3. They will be accompanied by Morocco, Japan, Poland, Iran or even Serbia.
Finally, the last expected play-offs will all be returned to hat 4 along with Saudi Arabia, Ecuador, Ghana, Cameroon, which fell from Algeria and Canada or Tunisia (these two countries are fighting over a placed in pot 3 and 4). Once all the groups are known, it should be remembered that the 32 qualifiers will also know who their potential opponents will be in the round of 16 since the first in group A will face the second in group B and vice versa. Same principle for hens C and D, E and F, G and H.
