With the organization of the Argentine Basketball Confederation (CAB), the Chubutense Basketball Federation and the accompaniment of the Undersecretary of Sports of the Municipality of Puerto Madryn, the Argentine 3×3 U18 Basketball teams will arrive in the city in their male and female branches .
Looking ahead to the South American Youth Games in Rosario 2022, to be held in April, from Thursday March 10 to Sunday March 13 there will be a concentration of the 3×3 discipline for boys in the U18 categories in both branches.
This new camp, part of the YOG-CAB program, which prepares for the Youth Olympic Games, will be held in the city of Puerto Madryn. The activity will focus on the Monument to the Welsh Deed during the four days.
For the vast majority of those summoned, it will be the fourth concentration of this specialty, although originally it was intended as preparation for the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar 2022. However, the International Olympic Committee decided to suspend the event for health reasons and reschedule it by 2026.
The III South American Youth Games will be held in the city of Rosario from April 28 to May 8. They will have a single stage where the 26 sports disciplines will take place. Everything will come together in the Parque Único Suramericano, in a strategic area such as Parque Independencia. The event will be organized jointly by ODESUR, the COA, the ENARD, the National Government, the Government of the province of Santa Fe and the Municipality of Rosario.
For his part, Diego González, Secretary of Education, Culture and Sports of the Municipality of Puerto Madryn, pointed out: “The arrival of these young people in the city will allow us to continue showing and disseminating basketball in this growing modality. For us, as management, it is to start saying goodbye to the summer with events on the coast or in nearby places after a February with intense activity and a highly positive balance”. He then added that there are still more proposals that will be finalized in April.
The head of the Chubut Basketball Federation, Carlos Sanz, stated that “as has been happening in all youth Olympic activities, basketball will be represented in the 3×3 format. Therefore, the proposals for the week of camp in Madryn include training in this modality and internal tournaments for both women and men. As a federation, we are proud that they have chosen Madryn in this final stage of preparation, it has to do with the boost we have been giving to the discipline for the last 4 years”.
The Undersecretary of Sports, Gustavo Di Modica, also participated in the presentation, made this morning.
