The matches between Slavia and Sparta are traditionally extremely tense, there is almost always something to watch, although there is not always a perfect football spectacle. Let’s recall the best derby of recent years.
Sparta – Slavia 1: 0, 3.10.2021 – Interruption of the series
Huge important derby for Sparta. After five and a half years and 14 struggles of stitched domination, the Letnás could say that they were the rulers of Prague.
Slavi’s chances were scored by Aiham Ousou, who had a foul in the 41st minute, and Haraslín scored from a direct kick and Sparta took the lead. Although Slavia had better possession of the ball in the second half and in ten (56%), she did not create any greater pressure or chance and Sparta interrupted the incredibly long series.
Sparta – Slavia 0: 3, 6.12.2020 – Star of Sima
In the autumn of 2020, Czech football slowly began to discover the star of Abdallah Sima. If the Spartans did not know about him in this derby, he introduced himself to them at the beginning of December in Letná.
The young Senegalese man first jumped on Petr Ševčík’s corner and opened the score with his head. But that was not all, in 8 minutes he worked out Bořil’s high waist perfectly and sent Slavia into a two-goal lead with a shot on the back pole. In the second half, Lingr still hit and it was done. Everything could have been different, but Juliš would have to change the penalty in the 29th minute.
Slavia – Sparta 1: 1, 8.3.2020 – Hero Musa
The last full-capacity match before the coronavirus pandemic. And the last derby before the sold-out Eden. Slavia had a great autumn in the Champions League, a 16-point lead in the league and so came the rebuilding of the staff – Souček left, players like Zima, Hellebrand or Musa started to get a chance. But Slavia did not get the start of spring, she lost to Bohemians and Slovácko.
Trpišovský again put more experienced players into the derby, and although Slavia had the upper hand, Sparta took the lead. Benjamin Tetteh opened the score in the 80th minute after a great individual action. But the staplers did not give up, which was helped by the wonderful atmosphere in the stands. In the 93rd minute, Musa jumped into the center of Bořil and equalized to 1: 1.
Sparta – Slavia 0: 3, 9/22/2019 – Demolition
We would probably have a hard time finding a match that was so one-sided. The Derby in September 2019 was a complete demolition. Slavia took the lead in the 19th minute, when the penalty was turned by the Spartan executioner Tomáš Souček.
In the 55th minute, a goal came, which somehow marked the then Sparta crisis. Olayinka shot in the lime, he only hit the back of the lying Sáček, from whom, however, the ball bounced into the goal. In the 90th minute, Masopust enjoyed Sparta’s defense when he ended his action with a beautiful dugout over the helpless Heč.
Sparta – Slavia 3: 3, 17.3.2018 – Crazy comeback
One of the craziest derbyes in the 21st century. Sparta played a fantastic first half, mainly thanks to one man. Nicolae Stanciu was unstoppable, scoring two goals and scored his Souček’s goal to make it 3 – 0 at Sparta.
It seemed done, but Slavia did not give up even the lost match. She was clearly better in the second half and put a lot of pressure on the snowy field, which started to bear fruit until the end. Miroslav Stoch reduced the lead to 1 – 3 with 70 minutes on the clock when Simon Deli got the best of a ball floated in from the left. In the 95th minute, Sparta was tripped in a shot by Tecl and a penalty was whistled. Captain Milan Škoda turned it in the best possible way – a blow to the crossbar and Slavia thus celebrated a crazy comeback.
