Whereas Triangle Strategy just got out, Square Enix definitely still has a lot of appetite for tactical RPGs. The latest State of Play did us the honor of introducing The Diofield Chroniclesa brand new license whose style of certain artworks may recall that of the game recently released on Switch, but the atmosphere of this title promises to be radically different.
The other Dio of the evening
The Diofield Chronicles will therefore present strategic battles in real timein a world mixing fantasy with visibly very Final Fantasy invocations at heart (yes, it looks like Bahamut), political intrigue, and modern influences.
As its name might suggest, for the more discerning, the title will be entitled to diorama-style decorations, which gives it this unique visual style. We will follow the Blue Foxes, a group of mercenaries who will try to save the world as war rages between three sides.
This group is made up of:
- Waltaquin Redditch : Magician, daughter of noble and aristocrat, but also one of the four leaders of the Blue Foxes.
- Andrias Rhondarson : Outstanding tactician and bodyguard of Prince Levantia Shaytham, also gifted in ancestral sorcery.
- Iscarion Colchester : Errant knight very gifted in archery, who becomes one of the leaders of the group.
- Fredret Lester : The last leader of the mercenaries, described as being naive but good-hearted and a talented horseman, good friends with Andrias.
- Izelair Wigan : A renowned swordswoman who wears her heart on her sleeve.
- Lorraine Luckshaw : Administrator of the organization.
The Diofield Chronicles will be available later in 2022 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch. the official site is already available with further information.
