The defeat against Landes last Wednesday had left Spar Girona eliminated from the Euroleague and, in principle, their continental path had to follow the Eurocup, their competition. But today FIBA, which announced yesterday that it was eliminating Russian teams from its competitions after the declared war with Ukraine, has decided to replay Spar Girona and TTT Riga, ranked fifth, to replace Ekaterinburg (first in the group A) and Dinamo Kursk (fourth in group B). In this way, Girona will repeat for the second year in a row in the quarterfinals of the top European competition and will also do so against the same rival of last year, Perfumerías Avenida, bringing back to the continent the classic of the Women’s League.
The quarterfinals are as follows:
Perfumerias Avenida v Spar Girona
Sopron Basket v BLMA
Fenerbahce Safiport v TTT Riga
USK Prague v Beretta Famila Schio
