La Charite-sur-Loire. The first bow company in general assembly. “2021 was a very poor year due to Covid-19, with only two competitions. Thank you again to all the members of USC archery for their participation and their investment in these events”, underlined the president, Christian Leclaire, in introduction to the general assembly.
Gathered at the Georges-Picq sports center, in the presence of Caroline Chauve, president of the Union Sportive Charitoise Omnisport, and Akim Amaich, fifth assistant to the City of La Charité-sur-Loire, the archers of the first company were able to look back on the last few months with their share of pandemic annoyances.
Animations
A 2021 season that will still have seen positives, in particular thanks to the members who are largely involved in the animations. “Animations which are the showcase of the club and which generate one of our best cash inflows”, recalled the president, underlining the involvement of Catherine Gauthier in the shooting school and with the disabled sports authorities. “An important personal investment”, he recalled.
Over the past season, only two events were able to take place, health restrictions oblige, Catherine Gauthier then summed up: the open doors on September 12 and 13, 2020, at the Georges-Picq gymnasium, which made it possible to recruit licensees, but which were then lost when the premises closed, and the Autumn Festival in Sauvigny-les-Bois, September 19, 2020, where young and old clashed throughout the day.
Another reason for encouragement, the first arc company of La Charité-sur-Loire retains its bronze label from the archery federation and the handisport club label. On the other hand, the club will not ask for the renewal of the label of the federation. “The criteria requested are far too restrictive for small structures like ours,” argued Christian Leclaire, before returning to the sporting record which saw the Charitois reap several medals, including several gold.
Competitions
President Leclaire then mentioned several projects for this new season. Despite some expectations, as well as the room that has been provided to the club to store its initiation equipment in good conditions but which is still awaiting development. And while the making of a second shooting wall was well done, dishonest people granted themselves the structures and the club returned to the starting point. As for outdoor installations which become obsolete with thirty years of age, replacement is very expensive. A request was made to the town hall so that the technical services could redo the wooden structures.
In terms of activities, a new season of competitions at all levels is launched with, in particular, the passing of arrows for the emulsion of young people and new archers. The “young special” from chick to junior, organized by the clubs of the department, have been a great success with the young people of the section. Another effort for them to join the seasoned competitors.
Sunday, May 15, the club will resume its summer quarters for the organization of two outdoor competitions: the 2 x 50 meters, support of the departmental championship of Nièvre, and the 2 x 70 meters. All that remains is to find a date for the shooting of the King, an ancestral custom which designates the King for a year.
