After the M1, M1 Pro and M1 Max, now comes the M1 Ultra: The chipset announced by Apple on Tuesday evening is currently the most powerful chip for a PC. To achieve this performance, Apple has two M1 Max chips along with UltraFusion – a special architecture. The M1 Ultra has 20 cores: 16 high-performance cores and four high-efficiency cores. For particularly complex graphics requirements, the chip has a 64-core GPU, which is eight times larger than that of the M1. The new M1 Ultra is integrated into the new Mac Studio and can be configured with up to 128 GB of memory.

Lots of power in a compact design: The new Mac Studio is the first product with Apple’s new M1 Ultra chip on board. With its computing power, the compact PC is primarily aimed at creative people such as musicians, designers or developers. Despite its performance, the Mac, which measures just 20 x 20 x 9.4 cm, is said to be quiet even when working hard. Apple has also thought of sufficient connections: There are two USB-C ports and an SD card slot on the front, and you will find four Thunderbolt 4 ports, a 10 Gbit Ethernet port, two USB A port, an HDMI connection and a pro audio socket.
The new Mac Studio can be pre-ordered now and will start shipping on March 18th. Prices start at 2,299 euros for the version with the M1 Max chip. The variant with the M1 Ultra chipset starts at 4,599 euros.

In line with the Mac Studio, Apple also introduced a new screen at its March keynote. The Studio Display offers 5K Retina resolution on a 27-inch diagonal. The monitor displays more than 14.7 million pixels and has a brightness of 600 nits. With its support of the P3 color space, the Studio Display is primarily aimed at professional users in the video and photo area. Thanks to True Tone technology, the color temperature automatically adjusts to the ambient light.
Special feature of the Studio Display: An iPhone chip works inside. The A13 Bionic chip primarily drives the camera and audio system. The monitor has a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera for video telephony. The follow mode always keeps the user in the center of the picture – even if he moves. Three microphones and six loudspeakers are also integrated in the studio display: four woofers and two tweeters. In addition, the monitor offers three USB-C ports and a Thunderbolt port, through which it is also charged. The price for the Studio Display is 1,749 euros.
