The opinion of Juan Pablo Colinas, Sporting and Tenerife exporter: “I don’t see Sporting going down, but we have to be aware of the situation”

Juan Pablo Colinas (León, 43 years old) went to Mareo to witness the agonizing victory of Sporting B (2-1) over Lealtad. After his last adventure in Chinese football to serve as goalkeeper coach at Shenzhen FC directed by Jordi Cruyff, his body now asks for some respite and rest. Time to be with yours. Important figure in Sporting and with a past in Tenerife, the exporter does not hide his preferences for the important match that is played in El Molinón. “I’m going with Sporting. I have it very clear”.

–After so much time away, where is your head now?

-Now? In being at home. It’s been a year and a half without my family and being far away… I want to be here, at home, with my family and get back to my routine a bit. And clean your head. Because mentally the experience has been strong. I want to regain strength. And we will see what happens in the future.

Do you already have something in mind?

-I’m watching football and I talk to friends who are goalkeepers, coaches to see how they work. But now I depend a bit on the “staff”. I don’t know what Jordi (Cruyff) will do. At the moment, he has a contract at Fútbol Club Barcelona. I am a bit expectant. But now it is more important to rest and be calm than to think about the future.

-In Sporting he had to live joys and hard times. How do you see this delicate moment that the club has now?

– Tomorrow (for today) is not a final. If Sporting loses it is not definitive. Finals are something else: when you win or lose and it’s all over. It is a difficult moment, of course. And a situation that no one expected. But this is the reality that there is. I am sure that the players know the situation they have and the shirt they are representing. I am sure that the fans also know the importance of the situation and will support the team. Later there will be time for each one to draw conclusions and recriminate what they consider.

-Despite the harshness of the situation, do you think that Sporting will solve this ballot?

-I think so. Sure. I don’t have a magic wand, but I don’t see Sporting going down. You have to be very aware of the situation, yes.

Do you know Martin?

-I coincided playing… I think he was at Sevilla when I was playing.

-Mariño completed 200 games on Monday at Anoeta as a Sporting goalkeeper. How is he seeing it?

-Nobody can doubt Mariño. The same now he is not going through the moment of greatest confidence for him… But first we have to congratulate him for reaching 200 games with Sporting. It is not easy to get it.

–He played for Sporting and Tenerife. Who is he going with?

–Obviously with Sporting! I do not have any doubt. I have it very clear. My team is Sporting.
