Pavel Orel froze the February derby in the quarterfinals of the home cup, it got out of hand. Before the next battle between Slavia and Sparta, which is often high-risk for the judges, experienced Czech arbitrators were not available for various reasons, so the arbitration commission led by Radek Příhoda reached Poland for the elite European judge Szymon Marciniak and his colleagues.
It paid off, judging the battered duels in the Champions League or the World Cup, he knew. He was fair, following the trend he had set himself. After the match, the accusations of the actors did not target him.
“I thanked the judges. I had the feeling that they managed it very well, “praised the Spartan coach Pavel Vrba, even though his ensemble fell in Eden 0: 2.
“They had respect. I liked that even though (Szymon Marciniak) was a foreigner, he was very prepared for the match, because he was already communicating with some players in front of him so that they would not fall so much or be careful about certain interventions. He had the teams loaded. I also really liked that you decided everything yourself. Although it was a match where there were a lot of fouls, scrums and situations in front of the goal, VAR did not even get involved once again, “added the Slavic coach Jindřich Trpišovský with satisfaction.
Marciniak was preceded by the rumor that he was kicking a lot of penalties in the matches he runs. He didn’t blow it in the Czech derby, he had no reason. He was not anxious, he did not whistle every contact, every intervention that might seem like a foul. He was continuous in his decisions, he didn’t make the game unnecessarily.
Already in the 13th minute, he gave the Spartan midfielder Ladislav Krejčí Jr. a yellow card for a sharp intervention on Yira Sora, he negotiated the emotions full of the Letenský leader in the rest of the match, he managed to catch him like everyone else.
Like the Slavist Ibrahim Traore, who also looked very impulsive. When Tomáš Holeš and Adam Karabec were in a fight in the 62nd minute, he warned them both with a yellow card.
The most discussed moment was and will be the situation before the first goal of Slavia. Alexander Bah rumbled lightly on the leg of Lukáš Haraslín, who fell, as he stepped forward. Marciniak did not whistle, Bah centered and Ondřej Lingr scored with a head.
This statement did not deviate from his meter, on the contrary, it fell into it. And a video colleague didn’t call him to review the situation. Apparently he has in mind that the technician has to correct only the obvious mistakes of the judges on the lawn, which this case did not seem to be the case. The jury will comment on this moment, but also on Marciniak’s overall performance, on Monday afternoon.
The Polish referee whistled a total of 32 fouls (22 Slavic, 10 Spartan) and dealt nine yellow cards (5 for home, 4 for guests).
