The Soria Basketball Club aspires to sign a weekend full of victories. Their teams from the lower sections will play a total of seven official matches and the goal is to achieve seven wins. Such an ambitious goal will not be easy, especially since Cadet B and Infantil B will visit the always complicated Maristas de Burgos field this Saturday. They will also travel on Saturday, to the Burgos town of Aranda de Duero, the Women’s Cadet and the Women’s Children. Junior A, Cadet A and Infantil A will play at home on Sunday morning, the three who have assured their presence in the top four, who will be the ones who will fight later to gain access to the Castilla y León Cup. And on Sunday the Alevín, the last team created by the Soria Basketball Club, will play their first friendly.
Víctor Sanz and Rubén Sanz’s Infantil B has chained four wins and would take a giant step to retain fourth place if they beat Maristas de Burgos away from home who won the first round at the San Andrés Sports Center. This match is played at 4:00 p.m., just before the one that will measure Cadet B with the same rival. Rubén Sanz’s squad, greatly diminished by injuries, has only won one of its last five games and has already defeated the team from Burgos in Soria. If he wins, he will secure fourth position and will fight in April to play in the Castilla y León Cup. This team already won the Copa de Castilla y León Preferente last year when it competed in the children’s category.
The two women’s teams will play on Saturday afternoon in Aranda de Duero (Burgos). Alberto González’s Women’s Youth -fourth, with two wins and two losses so far in 2022- will face Juventud Aranda at 4:30 p.m. Two hours later it will be when the Women’s Cadet, who has not won a victory since last January 16, tries to break his negative streak. The opponent of Mario Palmar’s team will be Juventud Gerardo de la Calle. Julio Pérez’s Infantil A, which has only lost two games throughout the year, hosts Basket Pisones on Sunday at 10:00 at the San Andrés Sports Center. At the same time, Fernando Flores’ Junior A game will be played – eleven wins in twelve games – against the same rival.
Two hours later, and facing the same opponent, Cadet A will come into action. Jesús María Soto’s team has been virtual champion for several days. Also at 12:00 p.m., the Alevín of the Soria Basketball Club will get underway with its first friendly, which will officially open on March 26, in Valladolid, in the first of the four concentrations that will make up the Autonomous Championship of Mini basketball. Their opponent will be Basket Pisones de Burgos. The Soria Basketball Club has never had a team in this category and opted to federate it as a result of the positive evolution described in the Infant School by those born in 2010. Its coach is Gonzalo de Domingo, the Burgos player who plays for Transler de la Men’s First Division.
