CULIACÁN._ Upon defining the Basketball Teams in the male and female branches, the Autonomous University of Sinaloa declared itself ready to face the Regional Universiade which will be headquartered Autonomous University of Baja California in Tijuana from March 30 to April 7 of the current year.
Ivan Esparza Pachecocoordinator of the basketball branch of the Autonomous University of Sinaloa, said that with both teams they are already in the pre-competitive stage in which technical-tactical issues and preparation games against local teams are being worked on.
“The Autonomous University of Sinaloa declares itself ready to face the regional phase of what is Universiade in the basketball field, the teams have already been formed in both the women’s and men’s branches,” he said.
It established that the objective in this 2021-2022 edition of the Regional Universiade is to place both teams in the first two places to aspire to get the ticket to the National Universiade.
Among those chosen in the definitive UAS basketball selections, Esparza Pacheco mentioned experienced players such as Orlando Madera, Jonathan González and Carlos Prieto in the men’s branch; as well as Galilea Román, Alondra Patricia and Jaqueline González in the women’s branch.
“They are the basis of the teams that will represent us from March 30 to April 7 in Tijuana, Baja California,” he stressed.
He clarified that on this occasion the Autonomous University of Sinaloa went directly to the regional phase because it was the only institution that registered a team in the state to face the inter-institutional stage of the Universiade.
Regarding the 3-on-3 basketball modality that will be played officially at the Universiade for the first time, the basketball coordinator stressed that in both branches they have the players and base players ready with whom they will compete for the first places.
Esparza Pacheco thanked the support they are having at all times from Dr. Jesús Madueña Molina, rector of the UAS and the director of Sports of this house of studies in terms of infrastructure for training and blank games that are required.
