THE ATHLETE, SANTIAGO.- The Santiago Basketball Association (ABASACA) and the Organizing Committee of the 42nd Santiago Superior Basketball Tournament, chaired by José Luís Aracena and Rosa Santos respectively, plan to dedicate this Wednesday’s session to the Minister of President, Mr. Lisandro José Macarrulla Tavárez, for his valuable contributions in favor of society and sports in general.

The decision to dedicate this Wednesday’s session to Mr. Macarrulla was unanimously approved by the executives of ABASACA and the members of the Organizing Committee of the “Best Superior Basketball Tournament in the Country”, indicated the highest authority of ABASACA José Luis Aracena.

The lawyer Lisandro Macarrulla plans to perform the kick-off as part of the dedication of the day on Wednesday, prior to the second game of the night, with which the second round of the regular series will formally begin, where The current champions of the Club Pueblo Nuevo and the runners-up of the Club los Pepines (Cupes) will face each other, prior to that meeting the representative teams of the Clubs Fernando (Plaza) Valerio and Sunday Paulino (CDP), who will be responsible for closing the first round of the fair.

Biography of Macarrulla

Lisandro José Macarrulla Tavárez was born on December 19, 1956 in Santo Domingo in a humble and valuable family, he has a degree in Business Administration with a Master in Finance/Service Management from the Rochester Institute of New York. He chairs the MAC Group, one of the largest and most powerful business groups in the Dominican Republic. This family business group has investments in the real estate, tourism and construction sectors.

Macarrulla has been president of the Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD), Association of Construction Materials Industries, twice president of the National Council of Private Enterprise (CONEP), president of the Association of Cement Producers of the Caribbean and the Iberoamerican Federation of Cement. As a philanthropist, he directs the “Asociación Ciudad Ovando” a non-profit institution that seeks to preserve the historic center of the Colonial City of Santo Domingo.
