Mara Buzzanca: The pleasure is all mine. It’s always great to discuss the game we love.
Let’s delve straight into the action.Despite a valiant effort from your team, Umbertide ultimately secured a 76-67 victory. What do you attribute their success to?
MB: Umbertide played a very disciplined game. Their bench strength was a key factor. They were able to maintain their intensity and scoring threat even when their star player,Federica Pompei, was on the bench.Their counter-attacking play was notably effective. We struggled to contain their fast breaks and they capitalized on our missed shots.
You mentioned Umbertide’s bench strength. It truly seems Moriconi’s substitution for pompei was particularly impactful.
MB: Absolutely. Moriconi brought fresh energy and that little spark Umbertide needed to maintain their lead.
Liliana Miccio, your star player, put up an astonishing performance with 24 points and was named MVP of the match. What are your thoughts on her performance?
MB: Liliana is a true competitor. She always gives 110% and never backs down from a challenge. Despite the loss, she demonstrated her leadership and skill on the court. We’re fortunate to have her on our team.
The game saw several lead changes, particularly in the first half. What were your strategic adjustments during the game?
MB: We tried to disrupt Umbertide’s rhythm by switching up our defensive formations. We also focused on controlling the tempo of the game and exploiting any weaknesses we saw in their defense.
Looking ahead, Alma Basket faces a tough matchup against Feba Civitanova Marche in the Final eight of the Italian Cup. What are your preparations for this crucial game?
MB: This loss is a setback, but we’ll learn from it and use it as fuel for our next game. We need to focus on our rebounding, play more consistently, and minimize our turnovers. Feba is a tough opponent, but we’re confident in our abilities and we’ll be ready for the challenge.
