Viaplay today started broadcasting the Formula 1 test days on Dutch television. Subscribers to the Swedish streaming service can follow the first day of testing in Bahrain completely live, with Dutch commentary. However, the first broadcast does not appeal to many people. It’s raining criticism on Twitter.
Viaplay has taken over the broadcasting rights of Formula 1 from Ziggo for this season and this has ensured that many Dutch people have taken out a subscription to the Swedish streaming service. However, the new rights holder still has to win over the consumer, because from day one there has been strong criticism of Viaplay’s choices. As of today, the provider was able to prove the critics wrong by putting in a solid first live broadcast, but it doesn’t seem to have quite succeeded yet. It is raining complaints and criticism on Twitter at Viaplay. Subscribers of the streaming service mainly comment on the mediocre image quality, the unstable connection and the new commentators. Below is a selection of the responses.
Image stuttered through the app and it doesn’t seem like hd, what a mockery, ziggo delivered better #viaplaysportnl

In times where 4K is the norm, @viaplaysportnl already struggling to display 720p!
And that for such an amount per month… Shameless!
I’m lucky that my LG C1 upscaled, but a lot of people aren’t that lucky… #Viaplay #ViaPlee # F1 #F1Testing— Richard Visser???? (@SaltySavageNL) March 10, 2022
Worthless comment. And Mr Kalff is going to do his best to pronounce Albon correctly man man man children’s school level

@viaplaysportnl I think it’s pretty good and the content is better presented. Only Alard Kalff can no longer. He is too busy with his own right and has conversations with himself ????♂️ # viaplayf1 #viaplay

hopefully the image quality will get better, because this is really a deterioration compared to Ziggo and F1TV

@viaplaysportnl Is it true that the image just doesn’t want to be sharp? Appears to be 720p image, therefore color contrast is not nice, many short stutters. In studio from afar, the pixels can sometimes be counted. Very annoying to watch this if you like good image quality #Viaplay

So, how do we think it’s going ourselves @viaplaysportnl ?
What a drama so far. Stuttering, flashing and commentary that sometimes disappears.
The start is one from place 3 to place 10.#viaplay
