More than one hundred players from twenty-five countries start the first day of the international para-badminton tournament, followed worldwide
The best rackets began yesterday to compete on the central court of the Palacio de Deportes de Cartagena, converted into the epicenter of world para badminton until Sunday as the venue for the international championship. More than one hundred players from twenty-five different countries compete in this tournament in the municipality, followed worldwide through the online broadcast of the Spanish Badminton Federation.
The competition is divided into six different categories, depending on the disability of the players: there are athletes of short stature, with disabilities in the legs, in the arms and with reduced mobility in a wheelchair. In total there are 104 players, who are staying in hotels in the municipality such as Los Habaneros and Alfonso XIII. This Spanish International of Parabadminton has as its main promoter and organizer the Cartagena Badminton Club.

There are European, Asian and South American players, especially from Brazil to Peru. Also of the highest level, like the Spaniards Ignacio Fernández and Francisco Motero. And even recognized champions, such as the Olympic medalists Pramod Bhagat and Krishna Nagar, both of Indian nationality.
The competition started yesterday in a marathon day from nine in the morning to eight in the afternoon, in which more than fifty matches were played. The main track of the Palace was divided into five pitches, keeping one part of the parquet for players in wheelchairs. Of the 104 players, only 28 will access the grand final on Sunday. Today the meetings continue. Admission is free.
