Jean-Michel Aulas mentioned tracks on the reform of women’s competitions with in particular the desire to create a Division 3.

A major reform of national competitions is planned by the 2024-2025 season. A working group has been set up by the French Football Federation. New commissions have also been created, such as that for high-level women’s football, led by Jean-Michel Aulas. In an interview with L’Equipethe president of Olympique Lyonnais confided in the changes to come.

“The first point on which we plan to work is the pyramid of competitionshe explains to the sports daily. Our ambition is to go fast. Mine is to ensure that texts are proposed to the federal assembly in June. All decisions must be validated by the Comex. The idea is to be operational next year. »

Jean-Michel Aulas in favor of Women’s Division 3

And like we already mentioned it in April 2020the subject of the Women’s Division 3 has become important for the evolution of women’s football. “We would go towards a three-level structure, probablyconfirms Jean-Michel Aulas. I am in favor of a return of the D3. The idea would be to have two or three groups of D3, a single group of D2 which would perhaps be more concentrated than today. And a D1 hen. »

A single Division 2 group would have the advantage of having a much more homogeneous championship. Because the creation (or rather the return) of a Women’s Division 3 would allow clubs which are barred every year in the play-offs or in their league by professional structures to participate in a national championship. The reserves of D1 clubs – some of which are still at the top of Regional 1 each season – could even participate in this championship. It would be a big step to improve the training of young players.
