By 2026, Florence will not only have a new stadium, but an entire district, that of Campo di Marte, will be largely redesigned. In fact, in the international competition announcement launched by Palazzo Vecchio there were not only precise indications for the restyling of the sports facility, but for everything that is around the Franchi and which will complete the offer for the whole area. A new piece of city that can be reached by the new tram line already planned (which will circumnavigate the stadium) and that will finally be able to count on a mega parking in the former railway area of ββvia Campo d’Arrigo to solve the problems of the residents hitherto besieged by sporting events. For example, 1700 square meters must be reserved for the local market under the Fiesole curve, rethought and enhanced in the new structure. The gymnasium and swimming pool under the stadium have also been redesigned by the designers. The swimming pool in particular will have an area of ββ1000 square meters and a pool of 25×12.5 meters.
The fulcrum of the new urban layout of the area will be the urban park created with the expansion of the current public garden. We will go from 30 to 60 thousand square meters of greenery using the spaces of the football fields of Cerreti and the famous campini of Fiorentina. In the large park, the skateboarding track must also find adequate space. As for the baseball field, it will have to remain in its current location, including the stands and compartments below, but all ancillary services will have to be enhanced in order to enhance and make the structure even more usable. There are also several innovations for the Affrico sports club: the idea is that of a new multipurpose building (also for basketball and volleyball) that can accommodate up to 700 spectators. In viale Paoli access is provided only for those who have to go to the sports facilities, a particular LTZ is being studied. The chapter of commercial spaces still to be resolved. In the area around the Franchi, there are 15,000 square meters of retail, hospitality and management (5,000 for each destination) including new shopping centers (under 2,500 square meters), hotels and facilities for the service sector.
