Ukraine war: Putin buddy Abramovich must not sell Chelsea – football

Tremors in the Premier League!

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich (55) is not allowed to sell his club. The billionaire only announced on Wednesday last week that he was leaving the club.

Reason: The Russian oligarch has been the focus of attention in Great Britain for weeks because of his alleged closeness to Russian President Vladimir Putin. MPs in the House of Commons repeatedly called for him to be put on the sanctions list.

He wanted to donate any profits from the sale to the victims of the war in Ukraine.

But now the British government is intervening, prohibiting the sale. And at the same time freezes the assets of Abramovich.

The club of German coach Thomas Tuchel (48) can continue to play games – but with restrictions.

There will be no match day tickets, only season ticket holders will be allowed into the stadium. Merchandise may no longer be sold, player transfers or contract extensions are also prohibited.

After all, catering can still be delivered to the games. The English journalist Martyn Ziegler writes on Twitter.
