Verstapen wins Saudi F-1 Grand Prix in final rounds / Article

Most of the race was led by first-round winner Charles Clare, but three laps before the finish, Stephen overthrew the Ferrari driver and prevented Monaco from regaining the lead in the straight.

Closer, a member of the Clergy team, finished third in the third, and Serstio’s colleague Verstapen was fourth. Lewis Hamilton (“Mercedes”) settled for tenth position, but his teammate George Russell finished fifth.

Pace started from the first position, with Clare next to him, and Saints and Verstapen took the second row. Hamilton left the first qualifying round on Saturday and started from the eighth row.

Peres maintained his lead at the start, but lost it after his first boxing visit, following an accident with Nicolas Latif. A safety car went on the track, during which the other pilots could go to the pit stop without losing their positions.

Lekler became the leader, followed by Verstapen, Sains and Perez. At the end of the race, Verstapen approached Clecker and was overtaken for the first time seven laps before the finish, but a little later the competitor regained the lead with the CRS.

However, three laps before the finish, Verstapen once again passed Clecker, who showed the fastest time in the last lap but could not regain the first place.

The leader with 45 points in the overall World Cup standings is Clecker, followed by Saints with 33 points, Verstapen is third with 25 points, and Russell is three points behind.

The race took place despite the fact that on Friday the second training run was delayed by an explosion at an oil depot nearby about 20 kilometers, for which Yemeni rebels have taken responsibility.

Last weekend, the first stage of the season in Bahrain was celebrated by Clare, the second by Saints and the third by Hamilton. Both Red Bull pilots were forced to withdraw due to technical problems in the last laps.

Last year, Verstapen won the first F-1 World Championship title in the final round of the Abu Dhabi Abu Dhabi, ahead of seven-time Hamilton, who had the same number of points before the final round.

There are 22 stages in the F-1 calendar this season.
