It came as no surprise to Max Verstappen that Mercedes came up with a different design than what they had originally presented. The world champion believes that he and his team should focus on themselves, because that is the only thing they can influence. He is very satisfied with his own team.
In conversation with Ted Kravitz at Sky Sports says Verstappen that he did not look up to the new Mercedes design. “I think the top teams in general do that. You have a launch car and a race car. So I always expected them to come up with something and that’s what they did. It’s their philosophy and I wasn’t shocked because in the end you can’t control what they do.’
The Dutchman is therefore of the opinion that his team should focus on itself, but he has already mentioned this before, he recalls Kravitz. “That is something I have said regularly in the past and we just have to focus on our car and try to develop that car, which I think is going quite well,” the Limburger is happy with the RB18 for the time being.
Barcelona anders and Bahrain
In Barcelona, Red Bull Racing seemed to look good, but that does not say much about the days in Bahrain, according to Verstappen. “As for what I did in Barcelona, it was more about getting laps on the plate, testing the car, the engine and the reliability, to get a bit of an overall understanding of the car.
