“Viewers have crossed the line”: Zverev is angry after the Davis Cup, Thomalla is with him

At the Davis Cup in Rio de Janeiro, tennis star Alexander Zverev won both individual games, but there was no support from the fans in Brazil. His first tennis match after the disqualification in Mexico did not cause any joy among the audience: “We were booed here the whole time,” said the Olympic champion after the last match.

The 24-year-old was particularly angry that he repeatedly felt insulted by part of the audience. “The spectators have crossed a line,” said Zverev. “You can hate me, not like me. But if it goes against your family or someone you love, then a line is crossed,” said Zverev. “And that was exceeded in almost every single game here today.”

The 24-year-old is all the more supported by girlfriend Sophia Thomalla, who shared several snapshots of couples from the tennis court on Instagram.

“Brazil, it was an honor,” writes the 32-year-old about the photos that show her arm in arm with a shirtless Zverev. However, the presenter cannot resist a dig at the Brazilian fans: Germany gave them another kick in the buttocks, she comments with a football emoji – probably alluding to the 7-1 victory of the German national team at the World Cup 2014 in Brazil.

“Adeus!” (Portuguese for “Bye!”) adds Thomalla and reveals: Next up is Indian Wells for the Masters tournament in California, where Zverev will be on the pitch from Saturday (March 12).

At the beginning of October 2021, Thomalla made the relationship with Zverev public with a cuddly photo on Instagram. The moderator also had many well-known partners before – was in a relationship with football star Loris Karius, among others. In 2017, she dated Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale. She was married to Norwegian singer Andy LaPlegua from 2016 to 2017. From 2011 to 2015, Rammstein singer Till Lindemann was the man at Thomalla’s side.
