Now it’s official: Daniel Hackett is a new Virtus Bologna player. The former blue play-guard leaves CSKA Moscow and returns to Italy in the championship from which he has been missing since 2015.

The carreer

Hackett grew up in Pesaro’s youth academy before flying across the ocean to Bellflower’s St. John Bosco High School. Then the University of Southern California where he played with the Trojans shirt. In 2009 his first season as a professional, after returning to Italy, with the Benetton Treviso shirt. In the following season, he moved to Pesaro, where he remained for two consecutive championships. In July 2012 he signed with Siena with whom he won the championship and the MVP prize of the finals. In the 2013/2014 season, after the first months in Siena, he moved to Olimpia Milan where he won the second championship. In the summer of 2015 he left Italy to join Olympiacos for another Scudetto. Then the adventure at Bamberg, before moving to CSKA Moscow: with the Russian team winning the championship twice, a Russian Super Cup and a Euroleague in the final with Efes in the 2018-2019 season. Daniel Hackett also has 114 appearances for the Italian national team.

Virtus beat the Turks of Bursaspor 98-94 in the recovery of the 10th day of Eurocup. The Bolognese team is fifth in the standings with 7 wins and 6 defeats. Under 12 in the first quarter, Virtus took off in the third (+18), but was reassembled by the Turks, penultimate in the standings. In the final, 6 points from Kyle Weems were decisive. Top scorer Mam Jaiteh with 23 points with 9 out of 9 shooting, 13 assists by Milos Teodosic.
