Friedrichshafen’s volleyball team won their 17th DVV Cup title with a hard-fought 3-1 win against SVG Lüneburg. In front of 3425 spectators in Mannheim, where the men’s and women’s cup finals have been taking place since 2016, a close game developed between VfB and Lower Saxony. Friedrichshafen won the first set, Lüneburg the second, the third round was very balanced until Friedrichshafen’s outside attacker Luciano Vicentin managed the decisive one-block lead with his own 25:24 lead. Lüneburg fought back in the fourth set, but lost the thread – and the game – despite a large lead. For Lüneburg it would have been the first title in the club’s history. The women’s final between Allianz MTV Stuttgart and Dresdner SC had been canceled at short notice due to too many corona cases among the Dresdeners. As a substitute, the Stuttgart women, who were still undefeated this season, made up for their league game against VC Wiesbaden, which they had canceled due to the pandemic, which they won 3-1.
