Mexico witnessed one of the episodes most tragic and violent of football after the camp battle unleashed at the Corregidora Stadium during the meeting between Querétaro and Atlas, on March 5.

Unconscious people, families fleeing and no police presence was what unleashed the wave of criticism and reproaches on social networks against the Mx Leaguewhich was joined by the sports analyst, David Faitelson, who concluded that the event demonstrated that Mexico would not be prepared to host the 2026 World Cup.

Through various publications on Twitter, journalist condemned the “primitive and outrageous” attitude of those who perpetrated the intense attacks on the fans of the Atlas, thus labeling “infamous” to what happened in the tragedy of Querétaro: Football is not violence”expressed

“Where does so much violence come from? The images that reach us from La Corregidora are shocking and dramaticyes Can not be. Where does so much rage and anger come from? The game of football is not the answer…”

Added to this, rushed into the meager security of the Los Gallos Blancos stadium, in the understanding that the Mexican clubs had agreed to guarantee more protection in matches.

At least, that’s what he had claimed. Mikel Arriolapresident of the Mx League, on October 16, 2021 after the brawl between fans of América and San Luis Potosí recorded in the vicinity of the Alfonso Lastras stadium.

On that occasion, the director ruled out the disappearance of animation groups, popularly known as “bars”, and bet on a coordination work with public security.

But after the Corregidora tragedy, Faitelson endorsed the position of prohibiting said groups for the safety of the attendees. Likewise, he pointed out that it would be necessary to control access to stadiums, educate fans and limit the sale of alcohol: “Mexican soccer has a lot to do (…) Will there be interest and will to do it?”, he questioned.

“It has been brewing for a long time in the stands of Mexican soccer stadiums… Nobody did anything or little was done. The ‘barras bravas’, the pseudo fans who received support from the clubs, the misunderstood passion. Here are the results.”

And it is that what was witnessed on Matchday 9 of the Liga BBVA outraged journalists and fans, both nationally and internationally, who asked justice and strong sanctions by 22 victims of the brawl.

Some demands ranged from Disaffiliation of the Querétaro team and the apprehension of those responsible, until the suspension of the Mx League and even the restriction of Mexico to participate in Qatar 2022 and to be part of the organization of the 2026 World Cup.

This last position was seconded by the driver of ESPN Well, he added, said “barbarism” demonstrated the excess that violence had in Mexican sports, thus unmasking “the decomposition of the human being.”

“I see the images of Querétaro and I shudder. A barbarism, a human carnage. I wonder if those people have mother, father, siblings. How can they look into their eyes? An absolute example of the decomposition of the human being”, he sentenced.

“We cannot cover the sun with a finger… The social situation, the violence that exists in the country has overwhelmed us. We are not here to make a World Cup. That is a reality, even if it hurts”.
