You witnessed westerlo’s struggles against Deinze earlier this season. What were your thoughts on their performance this time around?
WD: Well, Westerlo showed commendable character. It wasn’t an easy match by any means. Deinze gave them a real run for their money, especially after Janssens’ equalizer. But Westerlo found a way to win, and that’s what champions do.
De Cuyper seems to be in blistering form, netting both goals for Westerlo. What impresses you most about his game?
WD: He’s a real handful in the box.De Cuyper’s aerial prowess is formidable, and his timing for those headers is spot on. He knows how to position himself and find the back of the net. His red card was unfortunate,but he’d already done his job for the team.
Deinze had a legitimate chance to claim a point with that late free-kick from Janssens. Do you think Deinze deserved more from the match?
WD: They certainly made a real fight of it. Janssens’ free kick was absolutely world-class, and Deinze pressed Westerlo throughout the second half. They’ll be disappointed not to have gotten at least a draw.
Westerlo’s lead at the top is now a agreeable 11 points. Do you think they have what it takes to secure the title?
WD: Absolutely. They’ve demonstrated resilience, consistency, and attacking strength throughout the season. Unless they suffer some major setbacks, it’s hard to see anyone catching them now.
What will be their biggest challenge between now and the end of the season?
WD:
Complacency could be their biggest enemy. With such a substantial lead, they need to maintain their focus and avoid dropping points against teams they’re expected to beat.
