Miami (AFP) – The young American golfer Nelly Korda, Olympic gold medalist and number two in the LPGA ranking, revealed on Sunday that she is being treated for a blood clot that was diagnosed on Friday.

“I am currently at home receiving treatment to eliminate further risks,” Korda said in a message posted on his Twitter account.

The golfer, daughter of former Czech tennis player Petr Korda, explained that on Friday she was in Ponte Vedra Beach (Florida) for publicity events and that, “after a typical morning workout,” she began to feel her arm swell.

On the recommendation of his doctor, Korda went to a hospital emergency room, where the clot was diagnosed.

“I will report my condition when there is more information,” Korda, 23, said.

The player is the sister of the golfer Jessica Korda and the young tennis player Sebastian Korda, who on Saturday fell in a fast-paced match against the Spanish Rafael Nadal at the Masters 1000 in Indian Wells (California).

Nelly Korda starred in a dazzling 2021 season that included victory in four LPGA tournaments and in the women’s golf competition at the Tokyo Olympics.

The American closed the year as number one in the world ranking, but in January she was surpassed by the South Korean Ko Jin-young.
