235 days before the start of the World Cup, the battle for squad positions has long since started!
In the 1-1 draw against Holland, Hansi Flick (57) already clearly relied on the performance principle and fielded his best possible eleven.

The national coach: “Every player has qualities that enrich the team. It’s nice for us to have a choice.”
Record national player Lothar Matthäus (61) reveals his World Cup team in BILD!
Set for the Sky expert: goalkeeper Manuel Neuer (36), central defenders Niklas Süle (26) and Antonio Rüdiger (29), Joshua Kimmich (27) as a six and the offensive series with Leroy Sané (26), Thomas Müller (32 ) and Serge Gnabry (26).
The most exciting question: Who is storming at Lothar?
Matthäus: “I see Kai Havertz one step ahead of Timo Werner. With the flexible Havertz in the lead, there can be an interplay: He can drop to other positions, while Müller or Gnabry can penetrate the center of the attack.”

Another excitement: the position next to Kimmich. There, Matthäus relies on Leon Goretzka (27) and not on Ilkay Gündogan (31).
Lothar: “A brutally close decision. Gündogan stands more for technology and overview, Goretzka for power and dynamics. Because of the bloc formation that has always made Germany strong, I would lean towards Goretzka.”
Flick recently tested Julian Weigl (26) and Anton Stach (23) as a Kimmich alternative.
Matthäus has another idea: “Robert Andrich is a similar player to Kimmich. In Leverkusen he shows that he can also find playful solutions. I think that – if he confirms the achievements – he will get an invitation from Hansi.”
Matthäus relies on David Raum (23) in the back left in front of the long-injured Robin Gosens (27), on the right in the back on Thilo Kehrer (25) in front of Matthias Ginter (28).
Matthäus continues: “With Jamal Musiala and Nico Schlotterbeck, Flick has other super young players up his sleeve who can play at any time.”
Striking: There are seven current Bayern stars in Lothar’s World Cup team – and no Dortmund…
Matthäus’ World Cup team: Neuer – Kehrer, Rüdiger, Süle, Raum – Kimmich, Goretzka – Sané, Müller, Gnabry – Havertz
