PARIS – The Greek Maria Sakkari gained a place in the WTA hierarchy on Monday, to regain 6th place in the world, her best ranking already reached last November.
She dislodges the Spaniard Paula Badosa, who fell to 7th place. The rest of the top-10 is unchanged and largely dominated by the Australian Ashleigh Barty who has nearly 3000 points ahead of the Czech Barbora Krejcíková before the start of the WTA 1000 tournament in Indian Wells on Wednesday.
Quebecer Leylah Fernandez, who defended her title at the Monterrey tournament in Mexico, remains 21st.
