Xochitepec receives the Mexican Wheelchair Basketball Team

• The municipality will give all the facilities to those selected, heading to the Pan American of Playa del Carmen 2022

XOCHITEPEC, Mor., February 28, 2022.- The City Council of Xochitepec received this morning the Mexican Under-23 Wheelchair Basketball Team, at the municipal DIF facilities. It will shelter her for a week, in her preparation, for the Pan American of the specialty, to be held from March 8 to 12, in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo.

The 12 national teams, their two coaches, and the president of the Mexican Federation of Sports on Wheelchairs (FEMEDESSIR), formally began their camp on Xochitepequense soil today, with a welcoming ceremony for the entire municipal council.

The national teams will have all the facilities of the Xochitepec City Council, in facilities, food and transportation to the training venues, from today until March 4.

FEMEDESSIR decided to hold its concentration in Xochitepec, due to the great municipal support received and due to the similar climate to that of Playa del Carmen. That will allow them to make a better anaerobic preparation.

The Playa del Carmen 2022 Pan American Wheelchair Basketball Championship will give two tickets to attend the specialty world championship, this year in Japan. The Mexicans will be measured in that qualifying round against those selected from the United States, Canada and Brazil.

This is the last scale of the Mexican National Team before its maximum commitment. Their previous concentrations were in Guadalajara, Jalisco; and in Sahuayo, Michoacan.

The twelve athletes who will train on Xochitepequense soil are: Charly Cárdenas, Diego Parga, Alejandro Cárdenas and Pedro Emmanuel, from Jalisco; Esteban Espadas and Gustavo Ortiz, from Quintana Roo; Daniel Hernández and Erivan Trujillo, from Chiapas; Carlos Torres, from Sonora; Cesar Medina, from Durango; Fernando Galván, from Guanajuato; and Santiago Pérez, from Oaxaca.
