2022 World Cup in Qatar: some LGBT + associations are considering a boycott

A few months before the start of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar (from November 21 to December 18), concern is mounting for LGBT + supporters. On April 1, Abdullah Al Ansari, the head of security for the 2022 World Cup, warned LGBT+ supporters that they should avoid showing signs of their gender in public. This is, according to the organizer, to respect the conservative culture of the emirate, where “demonstrations of affectation in public are frowned upon”.
