“Basketball is the only sport that tends towards the sky. This is why it is a revolution for those who are used to always looking at the ground”, in the words of Bill Russell, NBA legend, the ‘Coast to Costa’ project is announced. This is a crowdfunding campaign promoted by the Abele Group (non-profit organization founded by Don Luigi Ciotti in Turin) and by the Communauté Abel to bring sport to the Ivory Coast to the children of Grand Bassam. Partner of the project, two Sienese realities: Mens Sana Basketball Academy and Corte dei Miracoli. The goal is to raise 6,000 euros to buy materials, set up structures, pay the coaches who will manage the first basketball camp in the summer. The campaign, on the Gofundme platform since mid-February, has exceeded 4 thousand euros and will close with a double event today in Siena: at 11 a conference in the headquarters of the Autonomous Press Group with Filippo Amari and Emiliano Cottini, creators of the project, Piero Ferrante of the Abele Group and Riccardo Caliani, dg Mens Sana Basket Academy; then at the Orto de ‘Pecci the social lunch, with proceeds to support the project.
