Frank Gore will soon sign a one-day contract with the San Francisco 49ers in order to retire as a member of the organization that drafted him and he then wishes to obtain a position within it.
That’s what the running back himself said in an interview with YouTube channel TheSFNiners on Sunday. The formalization should occur in the coming months.
“We’re still trying to figure out when I’m going to do that one-day deal. To sign, to retire,” he said.
About his future career in the football world, he feels he has the skills and experience to be an asset to the 49ers football department.
“I like watching talent,” he said. I love assessing talent and I love football. And [les 49ers] know that I know football players, what it takes to be a football player.”
Gore wore the 49ers uniform for 10 seasons before successively playing with the Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills and New York Jets. He ran for exactly 16,000 yards, passing the 1,000 yard mark nine times.
The one who played his last NFL campaign in 2020 scored 81 touchdowns on the ground and 18 more through the air.
