A sports club from Arenzano will also welcome Ukrainian refugees who want to play sports

With a letter from the Liguria Region and the Coni Liguria Regional Committee sent to the Ukrainian community, the commitment to make the refugees who have found a welcome in our territory play sports. The initiative is aimed above all at children, between 0 and 12 years (without Green Pass) but also from 12 to 18 years (with Green pass). There are already 61 sports clubs that have given their availability for multiple sports activities ranging from rowing to American football, from soccer to scuba diving, from fencing to basketball, tennis, gymnastics and judo. Among these, in the list drawn up by the Region, there is also an Arenzanese company, the Arenzano Tennis Club.

“Welcoming those who have escaped a war also means being able to offer a dignified life that takes into account the needs of those who have had to leave everything, from home to work, from family to friends to the most normal social activities including sport – says the Regional Councilor for Sport and Child Protection Simona Ferro -. After the meeting with Father Vitaly Tarasenko and Oleh Sahaydak, who act as collectors for the needs and requirements of the Ukrainian community in Liguria, many Ligurian sports clubs have expressed their willingness to welcome refugees for free to allow them to continue playing sports and today , thanks to the contribution of the Ligurian Coni, whom I thank for their availability, assisted by Antonio Micillo and Andrea Fossati, we have sent a letter in Italian and Ukrainian containing the list of all amateur sports associations and clubs willing to welcome children free of charge. and the kids who come from ukraine “.

“The Ligurian sports world – explained the president of Coni Liguria Antonio Micillo – immediately moved through the Coni Liguria, the regional committees of the Sports Federation, the associated sports disciplines and the promotional bodies, indicating the many sports clubs that are available to welcome young people from Ukraine to their facilities to allow them to continue their activity or try new sports. Coni Liguria in synergy with the Liguria Region and the Department of Sport is working to ensure that there is this possibility throughout the Region. I believe that Sport can be a formidable means of integration and can alleviate the great suffering, even psychological, of these young people who have had to leave their homeland, friendships and loved ones “.
