The veteran was used for just over 34 minutes against his former side. He had 16 points: 10 assists and six rebounds.
In this collective effort from the Heat, it was Max Strus and Victor Oladipo who sounded the charge with respective harvests of 23 and 21 points.
In the camp of the Raptors, Fred VanVleet and Pascal Siakam each obtained 29 points. Gary Trent Jr. was no exception with 21 points. Quebecer Chris Boucher, meanwhile, had six points and eight rebounds; it was used for 22 minutes by head coach Nick Nurse.
In addition, VanVleet took advantage of this duel to break the team record for the most successful shots for three points in a single season, which now has 240 in 2021-2022. The old mark (238) belonged to Lowry, who established it in 2017-18.
A whole welcome
Coming back to Lowry, the 36-year-old received a warm welcome from supporters in the Queen City. When the Heat starters were introduced, fans rose from their seats and gave their former favorite a standing ovation.
Later, the Raptors presented a very moving tribute video during a stoppage in play.
Lowry played nine seasons with the Toronto organization, in addition to being a very important cog in the club’s first and only coronation in 2019.
“I’m going home,” said the American during a press briefing before today’s clash.
“I miss a lot of things about this city,” he said. It will always be with me.”
