AGUASCALIENTES WILL RECEIVE THE II INTERNATIONAL BADMINTON CHALLENGE

After the celebration of the Pan American Cup in Acapulco, Guerrero, last February, international badminton activity returns to our country with the II International Mexican Challenge, in which 38 national exponents will compete from April 12 to 16 in Aguascalientes.

The event, organized by the Mexican Badminton Federation (FEMEBA), with the support of the Sports Institute of the State of Aguascalientes, will receive a total of 239 players from 25 countries such as Guatemala, Brazil, the United States, Canada, Japan, India , Germany, Belgium, Poland, Singapore, among others; which will compete for the medals in the men’s and women’s individual, men’s and women’s doubles, as well as mixed team modalities.

For Mexico, the men’s category is made up of Lino Muñoz, Job Castillo, Luis Armando Montoya, Armando Gaitán, Andrés López, Jorge Rodríguez, Sebastián Martínez, Rodrigo Morales, Gerardo Saavedra, César Franco, Ángel Martínez, Arturo Salazar, Juan Torres, Néstor González, Álvaro Río, Marco Antonio Ornelas, Carlos Jaramillo, Irving Pérez, Juan Pablo Montoya, Juan Pablo Jiménez, Maximiliano Peregrina, Isaac Pérez, Leonardo Rocha and Esteban González.

As for the women’s branch, it is made up of Haramara Gaitán, Sabrina Solís, Vanessa García, Miriam Rodríguez, Jessica Bautista, Romina Fregoso, Paula Lozoya, Joceline López, Fátima Río, Valeria Ornelas, Mayté Macías, Nova Villalobos, Linda de la Garza and Jocelyn Beltran.

The Olympic Gymnasium in the IDEA Sports City will be the stage where the matches will be played, scheduled for Wednesday, April 13 at 10:00 am, which will begin after a meeting of the team representatives; the semifinal matches are scheduled on Friday the 15th and the grand final on Saturday the 16th.

The II International Mexican Challenge, which is part of the Pan American Badminton Confederation calendar, will serve as preparation for the athletes heading to the XXV Individual Pan American Championship of the specialty that will be held at the end of April in El Salvador and where there will also be Mexican representation.
