As we have announced, Jānis Baumanis will spend the full season in the Euro RX1 class this year, starting in the “#YellowSquad” team under the auspices of Hansen Motorsport. He will have a Peugeot 208 car at his disposal, but in the first stage, 21 athletes will face a Latvian motorist on the Nīrada track.
Due to changes in the World Rallycross Championship this year that start only with electric cars, the European Championship category “Euro RX1” will be the leading class in which Supercar cars with internal combustion engines will still be used. The season will consist of seven stages, the beginning of September the fifth of which will take place in Riga, Biķernieki track.
In the first stage, pilots such as two-time European RX1 champion Anton Marklund, Rene Minih, Yuri Belevsky, Tamass Karai, Ulrik Linnemans and others will start in Hungary. Baumanis is the leading rider in the championship last year and will continue to do so this year – he was third overall last year.
