Second in the slalom in the Méribel finals, Henrik Kristoffersen won the specialty globe. Victory went to fellow Norwegian Atle Lie McGrath. The only Swiss ranked in the points, Loïc Meillard finished 12th.
Bronze medalist in the discipline at the Beijing Olympics and the 2021 Worlds, Henrik Kristoffersen won his 4th small globe, the 3rd in slalom after those conquered in 2016 and 2020. The 28-year-old Norwegian also won the giant classification in 2020.
Henrik Kristoffersen, for whom a podium was enough to secure this trophy, managed his second round perfectly. However, this was not the case for his last rival and compatriot Lucas Braathen: in the lead after the first run, Braathen broke down to fail in 11th place in this slalom.
Loïc Meillard disappointed
Fifth on the first course, Loïc Meillard did not find the right rhythm either in the final on increasingly difficult snow to ski. “Salty snow suits me normally. So I’m disappointed”, underlined at the microphone of the RTS the skier from Hérémence, 12th in this slalom at 1”26 from the winner. “This race shows that I still have a long way to go in the discipline. Not everything works perfectly. The new season starts tomorrow, but I still have to relax a bit.”.
Second Swiss ranked on Sunday, Luca Aerni did not score points. The Valaisan, 16th on the first route, fell to 19th place. Ramon Zenhäusern, who was in 24th place after the initial round, for his part ended the winter with an exit from the track. He won only one top-10 this season (4th in Adelboden). Daniel Yule was also eliminated on the first course.
