The winner of the slalom crystal globe will be known after the second round of the Méribel finals. Henrik Kristoffersen, leader of the classification of the specialty, ranked second and will secure the trophy if he finishes in the top-3. But beware of his compatriot Lucas Braathen, winner of the first round. The Norwegian is second at 48 points. Second round to follow on RTS2 from 1:15 p.m.
Loïc Meillard can aim for the podium in this last race of the season. The skier from Hérémence, 5th, conceded 0.58 on the provisional leader Lucas Braathen. The latter was 0”05 and 0”21 ahead of his compatriots Henrik Kristoffersen (2nd) and Atle Lie McGrath (3rd) respectively. Fourth, the Olympic champion Clément Noël dropped 0”45.
Virtually 7th and best Swiss in the classification of the discipline, Loïc Meillard is the only Swiss to have distinguished himself. Wearing bibs 21 and 22, Luca Aerni (16th at 1”75) and Ramon Zenhäusern (24th at 2”38) will have to shine in the 2nd round (from 1.30 p.m.) to earn a few points.
Third at Flachau 11 days earlier, Daniel Yule for his part experienced elimination on this first course. The Valaisan straddled after only a few gates. “It’s very frustrating, especially since it rarely happens to me. But it’s skiing,” he said at the microphone of RTS.
