Ariël Jacobs: “The amateur level is not high enough for the development of young people”

Club NXT is in third place in the U21 championship, but La Gantoise and Standard are very threatening.

Several crucial weeks are coming for the NXT Club. Club Brugge’s hope team is in third place in the U21 championship, but La Gantoise and Standard are just behind. The Rouches, fourth, are one point behind but two games less, while La Gantoise is relegated to eight units, but with three games less than the people of Bruges. Club NXT’s place in D1B next season is therefore very threatened, and missing the top 4 would be a big loss according to Ariel Jacobs, the president of the youth committee of the Pro League. “The amateur divisions are not high enough for the youngsters to develop optimally. In this case, the loan of some youngsters will remain an option, and when you see Maxim De Cuyper and Thomas van den Keybus at Westerlo, you see that Club Brugge have good experiences with that.”
