The beginning of the season will be difficult for a Latvian motorcyclist, because due to a hand injury he did not have enough time to train on a motorcycle, he also had to perform an operation, due to which he had to skip one stage.
Argentina has already made significant progress, even winning in the qualifiers and reaching sixth and fifth place in the finals. The work was continued in Portugal, where it was ranked seventh and fifth. In the second race, the athlete of the Standing Construct Husqvarna Factory Racing team was even in third place for some time.
“We can be happy with many things on paper, but I’m not so happy with my ride at the moment,” Jonas said after the race on the Aged track. “However, given that I’ve trained a little on a motorcycle, it’s hard to hope for anything more. Seventh and fifth place have given good points, so you just have to keep spending time and improve your performance. The direction is right.”
Although season leader Tim Gayser won the second race, the athlete from the Honda factory was “third” in the first race. The winner of the stage was, for the first time this season, the GasGas motorcycle driver Jorge Prado, who won the first and second place.
“It’s great to return to the top of the podium,” said Prado, a Spanish motorcyclist who last won the Czech stage last July. “It’s very difficult to do, because everyone drives very fast, but so far I’ve had a hard time driving at my own pace. Everyone wants to win, and it’s been a long time since my last victory. I’m very happy with what I’ve done. The second trip was very difficult, but we did it. “
Second place winner Guyers said: “Good day, which ended with a victory in the second race, and I enjoyed driving this difficult track. It was not enough to win the stage, but I am happy with how it went and how I was able to show myself in the second race. The first race didn’t start and it took me a while to find the rhythm and overtake everyone in third place. “
Jonas’ teammate Brian Bogers had a good time, finishing second and fourth, and third overall. The Dutchman is now eighth in the overall standings of the season, but Jonas has climbed to 11th place.
“It’s amazing, I’ve lost my language,” Bogers said after the finish. “The road to this was a tough one, but we’re back. I feel stronger every week and I can’t wait for the next stages.”
