Known for his volcanic temperament on and off the courts, Marcelo Rios, retired since 2014, gave a long interview to the Chilean daily Third in which he does not really handle the language of wood. Asked about Novak Djokovic’s choice not to be vaccinated, the former world number 1 let go.
“He’s a big idiot, he’s going to lose his career and he won’t be the best player in history because of a vaccine. I thought the same thing (about the vaccine, editor’s note), but I started traveling and I had to take it. Before, you might think that, but he’s going to screw it up because he’s an idiot. I don’t know what the reason is, but if you’re playing to be the best in history and you’re going to screw up your career for a few shots, you must be the king of jerks. I think at first it was out of fear, but now he’s too arrogant. »
