Surprise guest of the Miami Masters 1000 semi‐finals, Francisco Cerundolo was no match for Casper Ruud (6–4, 6–1). If he was frustrated after the match, he still wanted to remember his almost miraculous journey knowing that he was playing his first Masters 1000 and that he had never won a hard match on the ATP circuit before this tournament.
“Obviously right now I’m a little angry, upset, but I have to take into account the whole two weeks. It’s been two amazing weeks. I think I have played my best tennis these two weeks. I won my first match of a Masters 1000, played my first main draw, reached the semi-finals. I think I beat the best players in my entire career. All in all, these two weeks have been fantastic. I think I’ll be a little happier in a few hours, but I must already be really proud of everything I’ve achieved here“, underlined the Argentinian who will settle in the 51e world square monday.
